Okie Food Fried
Pies These are not your run-of-the-mill, politically-correct desserts. These are stick-to-your ribs, can't-eat-just-one real food. These are not on the approved list if you are watching your weight or your cholesterol.
Soak the dried fruit in water, just to cover, overnight. Cook in the soaking water until soft. Mash and add 3/4 cup sugar. Mix together 4 cups of Bisquick and 4 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Add1 cup of water slowly until dough is workable. roll out dough about 1/4 inch thick and cut into 8 inch circles. Put a couple of tablespoons of the fruit mixture in the middle of the circles and fold over sealling the edges with the tines of a fork. Cook in hot oil to cover until golden brown. These are the best things you'll ever put in your mouth. If you have any recipes to contribute, I would love to hear from you. Please e-mail me or send me a comment and I will answer. I would like to get as many recipes from this area and era as I can. Updated by bill bowlan on 09/10/2001 |
